Off a private dirt road in Mount Pleasant, Michigan lies the Cary Farm. A small family composed of Roscoe, Cassie and their two kids, Leyton (2) and Charlotte (11 months).
Only living a short distance away are both their parents. A tight knit family, who see each other nearly every day, whether it be just to stop in and say hi or work in the shop to get ready for the harvest coming in a few weeks. Roscoe has taken the business by storm with his father and family friend, TJ Tom. While wife, Cassie is a full time nurse and helps people in need at the hospital. The kids are often getting watched by their grandparents and love to come out and visit dad working in the field, when given the chance.
On top of getting the combine ready to go, the family is in the middle of demolishing the home on the property that has been there since 1916. Roscoe’s parents, Jim and Laurie used to live in this house but currently live in a mobile home on the property. Roscoe and Cassie are redoing their home so they can move into it with the kids and the second home next door so his parents can move into that one. Most family time happens on the weekends when they can all help out on the house remodeling.
The family has owned this land for 100 years now. Roscoe explains he doesn’t know much outside of this lifestyle of working on the combine and in the fields all day long. And wife Cassie would joke, “he would be in trouble if he ever had to work a job with real hours.”
Roscoe Cary and son Leyton, 2, take a seat on the steps on the house after working all day on the house demo. The family is redoing the entirety of the inside in hopes to move in 2020. For now they stay in a home that is right down the road, they use the 4 wheeler to go back and forth from each home.
Cassie Cary and daughter, Charlotte, 11 months, play in the front lawn with Leyton, 2, runs around and Roscoe works on the house demo.
